2/5/2008 Melissa Coker Texas artist Pat Green is known to many for his high-energy live shows, and now he's putting those stories on paper. The three-time Grammy nominee brings a different kind of show and tell to the table with Pat Green's Dance Halls & Dreamers; an all-access look at Texas' legendary music venues and the musicians who make them great. While Pat shares his memories and favorite stories of each place, author Luke Gilliam and photographer Guy Rogers take readers into a day in the life of the people who make the Texas music scene flourish through candid interviews and more than 200 action-packed color photos. Texas favorites Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen, Jack Ingram, Kevin Fowler, and Cross Canadian Ragweed also contribute behind-the-scenes-venue knowledge. Each of the 10 chapters chronicle the activities and atmosphere as everyone prepares, then parties, at the biggest shows in town. "If I had every beer that has spilled on that dance floor, I could drink for a lifetime," is just one example of the gems found within these pages, this one courtesy of Loose, Loud, & Crazy Texas artist Kevin Fowler. The book boasts both a website (www.dancehallsanddreamers.com), complete with concert surroundings, and its very own MySpace page at www.myspace.com/dance_halls_and_dreamers. Fans can own Pat's book by putting down a little green of their own at his site, patgreen.com, where the first 500 books purchased will be autographed by Pat and delivered prior to the Feb. 13 release date.
