1/31/2008 Stephen L. Betts Brad Paisley has announced that his next record will be an instrumental album. Widely regarded as one of country music's best guitar-playing artists, (he's up for a country instrumental Grammy for “Throttleneck,” as well as country album of the year and country collaboration), Brad wraps up another successful headlining tour next month, and tells The Tennessean he’s already looking ahead to his next project. “We're going to work mostly on an instrumental album,” says Brad. “Joe (Galante) is letting me go in and do one of those." Brad recalls a conversation he had a few months ago with Joe, who is chairman of Sony BMG Nashville. “I said, ‘Can I do an instrumental album?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I think that would be good.’ I told him, ‘You know, it probably won't sell anything.’ He said, ‘That's OK.’” Adding that it’s a “chance to finally do an album that I've always wanted to do," Brad reveals, “I'll have some collaborations and some guests and do some guitar stuff. We can be as wacky as we want to be without finding those songs that need to be commercial.” No word yet on a release date for the project.
