Obamas Say This Country Needs Country

Washington Gone Country
President Obama and First Lady Michelle will host a country music show at the White House July 21.  It is part of their mission to bring all different genre’s of music to the White House.  No artist have been announced to perform yet though.  I vote for Martina McBride to come back and perform like she did on that PBS special with Stevie Wonder.  She raised the roof on the White House!

Montgomery Gentry Gone Opry
Super Country duo Montgomery Gentry were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry Tuesday night, introduced by Marty Stuart and Little Jimmy Dickens.  The two were visibly touched by the moment, or maybe by Dickens.  Anyway, Eddie Montgomery commented that his dad had told him whatever he did in country music, “if you dont become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, you aint got there yet.”  I sho nuff do like how his daddy talked.”

Jack Ingram  Says He’s Got High Hopes
Jack Ingram has again delayed the release of Big Dreams and High Hopes.  He’s decided to go back to the studio and add a couple tunes.  Jack says he wants to treat the new release like it may be his last, so he wants to be sure it is real good.  I’m a perfectionist you know.  I like to make sure my bowl’s absolutely clean everytime I eat.

CMT Raves About Their Music Awards
The big dogs at CMT want everyone to know that their 2009 Music Awards was the cable channel’s highest rated program of the year.  They also boast that all the artists who won awards that night experienced increases in their sales the next week.  Brad Paisley’s Play increased 52%.  Sounds to me like they need to have the awards everytime there’s a new release.  That’d cure the music industry’s ills wouldn’t it?
