A new book by nationally-acclaimed music director, composer and performer Edgar Struble will offer first-hand insight into the music business and practical suggestions for turning a passion for music into a professional career.

Working in the Music Industry: A Guide to Careers in Commercial Music and How to Get Those Jobs, Including Interviews with People in the Business is a roadmap for music business hopefuls, presenting straightforward advice about preparing for and entering jobs ranging from road musician to concert promoter to entertainment attorney.

“The book was conceived out of my frustration over the lack of information about career opportunities in the music business,” said Struble. “In 1969 when I went to Michigan State University, it seemed the only options were to become a band director or rock star….Had I known there were opportunities like staff arranger or record producer or music copyist, I could have focused my education in an area that was more interesting to me.”

Working in the Music Industry was a 20-year work in progress, and not until Struble turned to digital technology did the book become a reality.

“I finally realized what’s possible with the Internet,” he said. “In the digital age, we can self-publish, self-distribute and self-promote. My hope is that book will make a difference for those aspiring to music careers.”

Working in the Music Industry is available at Barnes and Noble, on http://PeterPanicMusic.com and on http://Amazon.com. The book is also available as an e-book at http://smashwords.com.
