The dream of becoming the next winner of Nashville Star ended last night for 20-year-old Ashley Hewitt.

The Lancaster, Minn., resident was eliminated, narrowing the competition to just four performers. Although her chances ended, the judges and last night’s special performer Jewel were all impressed by Hewitt.

It was an emotional goodbye for Hewitt after hearing that she had received the fewest votes from viewers after the previous week’s show, according to grandforksherald.com.

“Those tears will become tears of joy because you’ll be a big star,” Host Billy Ray Cyrus said.

The young performer said she isn’t necessarily disappointed by her elimination because she hopes it will “open doors” for her.

You can catch a performance by Hewitt this Wednesday  in her hometown. The rising star will sing to raise money to help Lancaster resident, Tracey Brewer, receive a kidney transplant. Hewitt will perform from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Golf Course and at 9 p.m. at the Hewitt family ranch.
