Country Music singer Mindy McCready has been granted another chance to be with her four-year-old son as a Florida judge agreed on Wednesday to reopen her custody case.

McCready's attorney, James Moon, told E! News this week, "She was disappointed because she didn't get unsupervised visits but I think she was particularly upbeat that her case was reopened. She knows what she needs to do and she's been doing it for some time now. It's a positive step."

McCready lost custody of her son, Zander, to her mother, Gayle Inge, in 2007 after McCready was arrested on a parole violation. McCready also will face opposition of her custody request from the child's father, Billy McKnight, who was convicted of assaulting McCready in 2005.

Despite the struggle ahead, McCready remains positive. "We have progressed in a manner to reunite me and my son, Zander. I feel very optimistic this will happen in the near future."
