Merle Haggard Sues Environmental Organization

Merle Haggard filed a lawsuit on Thursday, Jan. 8, in Davidson County Chancery Court against the environmental organizations Green Train and its founder, Bob Wolf. Haggard claims that the organization forged his signature on numerous materials and documents, including items that were sold on eBay. He also claims that a significant amount of money that had been donated has been illegally used by Wolf for personal gain.Green Train, a Nashville based organization to raise awareness on environmental issues, will be traveling by railroad with supporting artists to 28 states beginning in April to provide knowledge and entertainment. Other artists on board for the tour include Jewel, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews Band and Cher, among others.Haggard states in his lawsuit that the misuse of his name could lead to “irreparable harm” to his reputation. There is an investigation in the works, and Haggard hopes to be disaffiliated with Green Train as well as collect compensatory damages and attorney fees.
