Merle Haggard is experiencing the highest solo recording chart debut in more than 25 years this week, as his latest release, I Am What I Am, entered the Billboard Country chart at No. 18 and the Top 200 chart at No. 76.

Haggard, 73, said of the album in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, "It's pretty personal. There's not a lot of politics. I guess it's a little more from the heart than the last few albums."

The Country Music legend has postponed several shows this week, including those in Oregon and Washington, due to illness. The shows have been rescheduled for next week.

Meanwhile, Haggard fans can catch his Stagecoach performance from April 24 on Sirius/XM Radio's Country Outlaw Channel. The show, recorded live from California, will be rebroadcast May 1 at 6 p.m. EST and May 2 at 10 p.m. EST.
