Each year, the International Fan Club Organization gives out the Tex Ritter Award to the Country Music artist they believe has done the most for Country Music and its fans. This year’s recipient is definitely deserving.

Country Music legend Mel Tillis will receive this year’s IFCO Tex Ritter Award at the 2008 IFCO Fun Fest Show. The show will be held Wednesday, June 4, at the Cadillac Ranch in Nashville.

Mel started performing in the early 1950s with his band The Westerners while serving as a baker in the United States Air Force. Since then, he has written over 1,000 songs and his songs have been performed by several major artists including Kenny Rogers, Bobby Bare and Brenda Lee.

Outside of music, Mel has also appeared in several movies, TV shows and has hosted the Music City News Awards and Music City Tonight. On top of all of this, Mel is also a proud member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
