4/8/2008 Meaghan Mitchell If you just cannot wait until the CMA Music Festival rolls around this June, you can get an earlier fix in May.  Country Music stars will come together this Memorial Day weekend when Cumberland, Maryland will host the 1st Annual DelFest from May 23 - 25, 2008. Delfest was sparked from the desire to create a music festival celebrating the 50-year legacy of Del McCoury music. The Del McCoury band is an award-winning bluegrass band that has made bluegrass and gospel music since the 1960s. The music festival will host a forum for world-class musical collaborations, as well as showcase newer talent. The festival is already offering up a band competition, discounts, and lots of excitement. The first DelFest Band Competition will be held on May 23, and Saturday, May 24. Entering in the competition could give one band the chance to perform onstage at DelFest. Applications are being now. If accepted, each band will have 15 minutes to compete on stage at the festival.  The festival is also gearing up for some family fun. It will offer a Kid's Area with a wide variety of activities for kids of all ages and there will be a designated Family Camp as well.
