Martina McBride, President Obama to Honor Stevie Wonder

Martina McBride and President Obama will honor Stevie Wonder with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song in the East Room tomorrow, Feb. 25. McBride will perform Wonder’s 1972 song, “You and I,” while Obama will present the award. The event will air on PBS on Thursday.The Gershwin Prize is given to an artist whose work symbolizes a lifetime achievement and cultural understanding through musical expression. This is only the second prize to be awarded. Paul Simon was the first to be honored.  Tony Bennet, gospel duo Mary Mary, jazz basist Esperanza Spalding, and Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, are also scheduled to perform at the event in celebration of Wonder’s lifetime achievement and Black History Month.
