Luke Bryan, Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley Celebrate Success of "Do I"

Luke Bryan, as well as Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley, came together to co-write Bryan’s latest hit, “Do I,” the current No. 2 on the Billboard Country charts. The three performed the song together at Icon, an upscale condominium complex near Nashville’s Music Row, to celebrate the songs success.
“We’re a new group called ‘Boys in Black,’” Bryan joked about how the three gentlemen sported black jackets during their joint performance. “Everyday I wake up, I get to be thankful for this song,” he said.
“Do I” has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipments of 500,000 copies, which in turn has given Bryan his first gold award.
According to BMI’s Clay Bradley, the song was written at Bryan’s home. Eventually Lady Antebellum’s front woman, Hillary Scott talked Bryan into singing the song with the group at one of their shows in Augusta, Ga.
Bryan’s performance with Lady Antebellum struck Capitol Record chief Mike Dungan’s attention, who then encouraged Bryan to record this song for his second album, Doin’ My Thing.
