2/1/2008 Stephen L. Betts Loretta Lynn, who lives in an 1817 plantation house in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., a farm and village 70 miles west of Nashville, actually has her own zip code. Because she and her husband, the late Mooney “Doolittle” Lynn, bought all of Hurricane Mills more than 40 years ago, the entire zip code is owned by Loretta, and the post office actually rents from her. Of her home, Loretta tells The Tennessean, “We was out for a Sunday drive, and we drove by this big ol' white house, and I looked up on this big ol' hill and said, ‘I want that house right there.’” The property also includes a museum with thousands of pieces of Loretta’s memorabilia, plus the kitchen where she filmed her famous Crisco commercials in the 1970s, and a replica of the mine that got her the nickname the Coal Miner's Daughter. Loretta is among the artists featured on GAC's How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites from the Grand Ole Opry. The concert special, which also features performances by Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Charlie Daniels, Ronnie Milsap, Trace Adkins, Vince Gill and Sara Evans, among others, airs Feb. 9.
