Lauren Alaina Gets Busy This Holiday Season

Lauren Alaina 2011

Lauren Alaina steps back into the spotlight this holiday season with an invitation to join a prestigious lineup of artists for the PBS special, “Country Music: In Performance At The White House,” hosted by President and Mrs. Obama. The President and First Lady invited Lauren to join several artists including The Band Perry, Dierks Bentley, Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Mickey, Darius Rucker and James Taylor for this seventh program of their “In Performance At the White House” series. The program will air Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 8 PM/ET on PBS stations nationwide.

The event will be streamed live on www.whitehouse.gov/live starting at 7 p.m. Est. It will also be broadcast at a later date via the American Forces Network to American service men and women and civilians at U.S. Department of Defense locations around the world.

Lauren will then kick off the first game of the NFL’s Thanksgiving Day tripleheader on Thursday with a televised performance of the national anthem between host Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. Next, she will return to Hollywood, where it all began on the American Idol stage, to perform a medley of the Christmas classics, “Blue Christmas” and “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” on A Hollywood Christmas Celebration at The Grove. It will begin airing in syndication Thanksgiving weekend through January 1, 2012.

After Thanksgiving, she will take the stage with Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Keith Urban and Martina McBride to perform “Grown Up Christmas List” on CMA Country Christmas, which will air Thursday, Dec. 1 at 9 p.m. Est. on ABC. On Dec. 5, she’ll hit Las Vegas for the American Country Awards which airs live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena at 8 p.m. Est. on Fox.

Lauren’s debut album, Wildflower, was recently released, and it landed at No. 2 on the Billboard’s Top Country Album chart and No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200. The accomplishment made her the youngest female artist to debut that high on the Billboard charts since LeAnn Rimes' debut 15 years ago and is the best-selling country female debut since 1996. And her current single, “Georgia Peaches,” is making its way up the country charts as well.
