Lady Antebellum Helps Maroon 5 Go Country

In past albums, Maroon 5 has been recognized for their pop music.  But this time around, they’ve added some Country Music flair. In their upcoming album, Hands All Over, the band has recorded a track with Country trio Lady Antebellum.

 

Maroon 5’s lead singer, Adam Levine, said he couldn’t be happier with how the single turned out.

 

“They did an incredible job,” Levine told CBSNews.com, as reported by GAC. “We wrote the song and her voice (Lady A’s Hillary Scott) was perfect for it and the band filled in the spaces in a beautiful way. It was a great collaboration.”

 

The pop band also incorporated Country Music by having Mutt Lange, Shania Twain’s ex-husband, produce the new album.

 

Lange is known for discovering and advancing Twain’s career and has produced chart-topping hits, including Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” AC/DC’s “Back in Black” and Bryan Adam’s “Everything I Do (I Do It for You).” Maroon 5 recorded their album with Lange in Switzerland.

 

“He’s a genius and it was amazing working with him. Wow, what an experience,” Levine also told CBS. “It was unique for us. We had never gone abroad to record before. He’s just one of those guys who’s done everything and has done really well and it was cool to have a different perspective on the music.”

 

Although Maroon 5 is going outside the pop music box, the band doesn’t plan on crossing over into the Country Music market. Levine said this new album has a lot of different styles.

 

“A little Motown, a little Country, a little straight ahead rock n’ roll and pop music,” Levine said. “It’s everything we love all wrapped into one beautiful package.”
