Famous Nashville honky-tonk Tootsies Orchid Lounge announced yesterday that Country legend Kris Kristofferson will perform at their 50th Anniversary Celebration. The event will be held at the Ryman Auditorium on Sunday, Nov. 7. Tootsies will announce other performing artists in the weeks to come.

The celebration will pay tribute to Tootsies and the late Hattie Louise "Tootsie" Bess, the woman it's named after.

"Tootsies has become a Country Music institution and Kris Kristofferson is a part of its rich history. For Tootsies' 50th anniversary show, we are booking artists which most honor its past, present and future," Tootsies' proprietor Steve Smith said in a news release.

Legend has it that Tootsies would allow Kristofferson and Country superstar Willie Nelson to reside upstairs when times were rough in the begining of their careers.

The concert will also be part of a TV network special and documentary celebrating Tootsies. It will be produced by Nashville's Travis Television.

After the Ryman celebration, Smith will host the official VIP after-party at Tootsies. VIP package ticket holders will walk from the Ryman to the back door of Tootsies on a purple carpet. Country legends like Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and Earnest Tubb made that same walk years ago to hang out with the Country fans that were packed into Tootises after performing at the Ryman.

VIP tickets are available at www.tootsies.net or at the Tootsies booth in the Nashville Convention Center during the 2010 CMA Music Fest. VIP packages are selling for $150. Tickets for the Ryman show are $40 and are available on Ticketmaster or at the Ryman Box Office.
