Kris Allen Is Not Country

American Idol's latest champion, Kris Allen, wowed fans during the competition with performances of Garth Brooks' "To Make You Feel My Love" and his duet with Keith Urban on Urban's hit, "Kiss a Girl."  It was enough to have Country Music wondering, "Is he, or isn't he?"

He's not.

DigitalRodeo.com reported that during a teleconference this week, Allen didn't completely define his genre, but knew clearly what it wasn't. "That's not my cup of music and not the feeling that I want in my album," he said of Country Music. The Idol winner went on to add that he felt admiration and respect for Urban, and enjoyed performing with him, but cited his performance of the pop hit "Ain't No Sunshine" as more his style, which he described as music that "moves people."
