Hal Ketchum recently wrapped recording of his new album—an album he laid down in just two days.

The record, titled Father Time, was recorded live to two-track, and included thirteen original songs and very few second takes. It was meant to have a live sound that is not typically present on other studio albums, where musicians oftentimes play in separate rooms during the recording.

Ketchum hand-picked each musician on the album, and knew by the end of the first day that the recording had been a success.

“It’s a coming of age,” Ketchum says of the new album. “This is what I do. I have a desire to be remembered as an artist, and whether somebody discovers this record today or 25 or 30 years from now, I want them to listen to this album and go ‘Yeah, I understand.’ The motivation here was to leave a little trail all my own.”

The album will be released September 9th.
