9/13/2007 Stephen L. Betts Sammy Kershaw may be running for lieutenant governor of Louisiana but the Nashville Post reveals he still has bankruptcy woes to deal with in Tennessee. Last week, during the same month he jumps into the race for lieutenant governor of Louisiana, motions were filed by a bankruptcy trustee to auction off Sammy's two tour buses. This follows a June court filing that converted his initial Chapter 13 filing to Chapter 7, which is a complete liquidation of eligible assets to pay off creditors. With Sammy running as a Republican candidate, he has one more thing in common with presidential candidate Fred Thompson. Thompson and singer Lorrie Morgan, Sammy’s wife since 2001, dated for a couple of years in the mid-1990s. In 2003, Sammy and Lorrie obtained court orders of protection against each other as they were apparently breaking up. They later reconciled. The bankruptcy filing is due in large part to the failure of Hotchickens.com, a restaurant Sammy started with Lorrie several years ago. The restaurant closed more than a year ago, after which lawsuits began piling up as vendors sought payment.
