Kenny Rogers Hit Spins Over Two Million Times

11/16/2007 Stephen L. Betts Songwriters Jim Funk and Erik Hickenlooper, and publisher Rex Benson of Rex Benson Music,  were recently presented with certificates denoting 2,000,000 spins for their No. 1 song “Buy Me a Rose.” The awards were issued by performing rights organiztion BMI, in recoginition of the song's radio airplay. Kenny Rogers took the tune to the top of the country charts in May 2000. The late Luther Vandross recorded it on his 2004 Grammy-winning album Dance with My Father, and took the song to No. 11 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
