9/19/2007 Stephen L. Betts Kenny Chesney's Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates scored first-week SoundScan sales of 386,992 units, making it the top-selling country disc of the week. The numbers, while impressive, pale in comparison to those of rapper Kanye West, who scanned just under one million units, and 50 Cent, who scanned more than 700,000 units. In other matters of competition, Kenny tells the Tennessean he’d like to continue his reign as CMA Entertainer of the Year this year, but he also believes his buddy Tim McGraw should have been nominated for the honor. "Tim has a lot of passionate fans out there, and I'm one of them," says Kenny, noting that Tim and his wife Faith Hill have created musical history in the past two years with their Soul2Soul tours. "If I had the career he had and wasn't nominated, it would bother me," he adds. The other nominees for this year's CMA Entertainer of the Year are Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts, who are likely to give Kenny some competition on the charts when their album, Still Feels Good, is released on Sept. 25.
