10/25/2007 Stephen L. Betts Kenny Chesney’s latest single, “Don’t Blink,” spends its second week atop the Billboard Country Singles chart this week. Kenny says that his lifestyle has helped him understand the song’s message more clearly. “It seems like me and the guys were just hitting the road in one bus, taking turns sleeping on the couch up front 'cause there weren't enough bunks with the diesel fumes somehow leaking back into the cabin … and how here we are with all these trucks, playing football stadiums.” Kenny says “Don’t Blink” is “a song that reminds people to pay attention, to not take things for granted, to know that these are the moments that make up a life … if you cherish them as they happen.” “Don’t Blink” is the follow-up to “Never Wanted Nothin’ More,” which was the lead-off single from Kenny's Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates, and with five weeks logged at No. 1 remains 2007's longest-running chart-topper. “I know the thing that's always drawn me to songs is that I know exactly how what they're singing about feels,” says Kenny. “That has always been what's made me respond, whether it's AC/DC or Keith Whitley and I'd like to think as diverse as what we do is, that is the thing that holds all of my music together.
