Kenny Chesney’s 2003 Country hit, “There Goes My Life,” is still touching the hearts of many people today. The lyrics of the song discuss the sanctity of life, and a posting for his music video on YouTube may have saved the life of an unborn child. The lyrics for “There Goes My Life” were written by Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley, and the single was No.1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts for seven weeks. The music video has also received 1.4 million hits to date on YouTube. The song tells the story of a young man whose life and dreams are forced to change when he finds out that his girlfriend is pregnant. Chesney sings, “There goes my life. There goes my future, my everything. Might as well kiss it all good-bye.” The music video shows a promising star football player who has to forfeit his dream career to care for his child. Then the story fast-forwards to two years later. The young man has come to the realization that his little girl was no mistake. The chorus says that she is now “my life, my future, my everything.” The song ends with the father later in his life, watching his daughter leave for college. The father realizes that he has learned to love his daughter more than his own life. “There Goes My Life” exemplifies a pro-life message, and, for many, casts some relief for choosing against abortion. In some of the responses to the music video on YouTube, people wrote of their regrets in choosing abortion or their relief in deciding against it. "This song came right on the radio as my wife told me she was pregnant and wanted an abortion. It's been a year and now our lovely baby boy is the most important thing in both our lives, and I can't help shed tears every time I hear this song," one YouTube commentator wrote. Another commentator wrote, "I recently found out that I am going to be a father, and this song describes exactly what was going through my head. I am starting look forward to it and every time I hear this I cry."Some viewers also related to the child in the song. One view wrote, “I can relate. My birth parents were unmarried college students. I was adopted at 2 months old and have always considered my adoptive parents better than a kid could ask for. I thank God and my birth parents for making the tough decision not to abort me, and maybe even the tougher decision to give me up after I was born.”To watch the music video, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MIJShOqh8Q
