Kenny Chesney is used to performing in sold-out arenas and stadiums, but his next performance will give him a chance to get a little closer to his audience.
Chesney will be the focus of the newest episode of Austin City Limits on PBS Saturday, Oct. 17. The show will give the hit singer a chance to talk candidly with his audience and be more intimate with the songs. Joining him will be fellow singer and good freind Mac McAnally, who joins Chesney on his song "Down The Road."
“When you’re playing to 50,000 people, you don’t want the energy to lag, but there’s also that idea that the ballads are the songs that really touch people… and I hate that we can’t go to that quieter place in the show as much," said Chesney. "Beyond the thrill of being asked to do the one show that I grew up on, I knew Austin City Limits is a place where those more thoughtful songs are really understood.”
Not only will Chesney be singing his biggest hits, but he will also tell the story behind and play the never-before-performed "Somewhere in the Sun," which was written after a show in Texas was canceled due to ice.
