Chesney’s 2008 Poets and Pirates tour ranked No. 4 on Pollstar’s list of the highest-grossing concert tours, while his tour reigned at No. 1 for total ticket sales in 2008. On average, a ticket to Chesney’s concert costs $71.24 per ticket, which is significantly cheaper than the three acts that out-grossed Chesney. As reported by GACtv.com, Madonna’s tickets sold for $153.88 on average, Celine Dion tickets sold for $119 and the Eagles usually sold for $128.82. To add even more value Chesney’s shows, his concerts featured special appearances by Keith Urban, LeAnn Rimes, Sammy Hagar and Gary Allan. And when he played Nashville’s LP Field, Chesney, joined by the aforementioned acts, performed 50 hits during the day. “It’s not about the money, it’s about the fans. There will always be tours that gross more than us, because I believe in trying to make it possible for anyone who wants to come out and rock with us to be able to do it,” Chesney told GAC. “To me, I measure how successful these tours are by the faces we see, and last year, I saw some pretty happy people everywhere we went. That there are a lot of fans there makes me feel like we’re part of their summer and part of how they’re living their life.”Chesney is scheduled to begin his Sun City Carnival tour in April, but official dates are yet to be announced, except for a sold-out stadium show in Foxborough, MA, in August.
