Kenny Chesney will appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 15, but this time he's not promoting an upcoming album, but rather a film. Chesney will appear on the show six days before the release of his concert film Kenny Chesney: Summer In 3D.

According to GACtv.com, “It’s sorta strange to be going on The Tonight Show with a movie coming out,” Chesney said. “It’s very different, the idea of showing clips and talking about the experience of making this film. But it’s something we’ re all — me, the band, Joe Thomas the director, all the guys who worked on it — are really proud of, and it’s definitely getting me out of my comfort zone.”

Years ago when Chesney had his first appearance on The Tonight Show, he was on the show because of an unusual circumstance: he and Tim McGraw had been arrested. In 2000, when Chesney was one of the opening acts for the George Strait tour, he had hopped on a policeman's horse and rode around backstage. While the rising Country singer thought he had permission to do so, he actually did not, according to the poilice. Later, McGraw got into a tiff with one of the police officers and both McGraw and Chesney walked away in hand cuffs. In the end, the charges were acquitted for miscommunication and Chesney went on the Tonight show to discuss it.

This time on the show, Chesney will perform an acoustic number, a big contrast to what his upcoming film will be like. "This will be maybe my most intimate performance ever on television, just like the movie is the most in-your-face, in-the-Goodyear-Blimp, in-the-Sand Bar, on-the-stage, almost-under-my-hat we could make it," Chesney said. "Consider the contrasts, and enjoy both phases."
