Four-time CMA Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney announced that he will be playing four shows at Hard Rock Las Vegas’ the Joint this year. The shows will be held on May 14 and 15 and July 2 and 3. Chesney, a performer who is used to crowds of 60,000, will be in a much more intimate setting, where the farthest seat from the stage is merely 155 feet away.

“Obviously we like to play,” Chesney laughed about his band. “The beauty of the Joint is that not only is it a great rock and roll room, but they’ll let us get up there and play… and play… and play. We have so much fun, because we can throw in all kinds of stuff we don’t get to play in our regular show, and the audiences are diverse enough that no matter what we throw at them, they know the songs!”

Last time Chesney rocked a Vegas stage was in April of 2009 for the Joint's opening weekend. Chesney played a three hour set with plenty of his original songs as well as covers from U2, Steve Miller, Van Hale, and Tom Petty.

“That’s what’s so great about a gig where the capacity is under 4000, especially at the Joint,” Chesney explaied. “It’s the best of both worlds: you get the energy of a club, but it’s still enough of a stage that there’s room to run around and have fun! Because when we do these smaller, less structured shows, we like to let loose without tripping over each other or getting tangled in someone’s chord."
Chesney is currently hard at work on his 3-D concert film, which will capture five of his stadium-sized shows and is set to be released in theaters April 21. His Greatest Hits II album, which will feature the Dave Matthews duet “I’m Alive” and “Out Last Night,” is available now.
