Jones will join the likes of Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn on a list that includes many other legends in the music and performing arts world. Since 1955, Jones has made an impact on thousands of Country fans across the country. He has won several CMA and ACM awards, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and headlines almost 100 shows a year. In a statement, Jones described himself as being overwhelmed with the thought of being inducted. “Since I was a young man, I have just done what I love and that is sing Country Music,” said Jones. “I never dreamed that something this special would happen to me. I am completely humbled and will be proud to accept the award!” George Jones – Burn Your Playhouse Down: the unreleased duets is the latest album to be released from Jones. Songs from the album range back to the 70s’ with his ex-wife, Tammy Wynette, to a duet with their daughter, Georgette. The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual fundraiser and one of the most important for the center. Beginning in 1978, the award has been in place to honor some of the country’s greatest artists. Other honorees this year include Morgan Freeman, Twyla Tharp, Barbra Streisand and Pete Townshend & Roger Daltry. The presentation will be Dec. 7 at the center in Washington, D.C.
