Keith Urban Offers 'Unbridled Freedom' Down Under

When Keith Urban kicked off his 2011 Get Closer tour in his home country of Australia, he probably didn't realize the intensified security efforts that would come along with it. 

 

“It’s the prison warden security,” Urban said. "God forbid that everyone can have a good time. A concert is supposed to be two hours of unbridled freedom, to be in the moment, to have the best night. You should be allowed to do that."

 

Because being home has afforded Urban more freedom, he invited his band and touring mates Lady Antebellum to the Sutton Forest farm he owns with wife Nicole Kidman. The group reportedly spent their time riding motorcycles and dirt biking. In a concert following all the fun, Urban reportedly ribbed Lady A's Charles Kelley, joking how silly the long-legged singer looked riding a short bike.

 

Even through his concert tours the world, the Urban's schedule was adjusted and arranged to accommodate his family's newest addition, baby girl Faith Margaret. “You know the meaning of minority rules when a baby is in the house,” he said.

 

Urban's new video for "Without You" allows fans access into some of his family’s intimate moments. The director shot footage of Urban with oldest daughter, 2-year-old Sunday Rose.

 

"I had Sunny with me on set and sat her down and just wanted to shoot a bit of her to keep for ourselves for our home movies,” Urban said. “And watching her was the part that really moved me. I wanted all the images to fly by in a very dream-like way and not be so blatant. This song is obviously so personal, and we're obviously very private people, so it was a question of how to balance that and honor the authenticity of the song."

 

Urban's tour Down Under has since wrapped, but fans can view footage from several of the shows at http://keithurban.net. He is slated to meet up again with his "CMT Crossroads" partner John Mayer in Las Vegas on April 30 for the 2011 Tiger Jam at Mandalay Bay, a night of music to benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation.
