Justin Moore's Bus Catches Fire

Justin Moore just can’t seem to catch a break in Michigan. Last time he made the stop in March 2010 at the Royal Oaks Theatre, a fan stole his prized Gibson J-45 guitar. This week, his tour bus caught fire.

The bus’s engine became a ball of flames Feb. 16. Moore, his band, crew and Valory’s Vice President of Field Promotion George Briner were sleeping on the bus – en route to the Royal Oaks Theatre.

The fire started when one of the batteries connected to the bus’s generator. A smoke alarm began to sound as the bus started to fill with smoke, and everyone immediately evacuated the bus. Moore’s bus driver extinguished the fire, which lasted about 10 minutes.

“Well...we really love coming to the Detroit area. I just hope in the future it gets a little more simple, as far as our trips go!” Moore said. “In all seriousness, we're thankful that we're all safe, and feel blessed.  It could've been a lot worse than it was.”

Fortunately, there was no damage to the engine and everyone was able to enter the bus after a half hour in the cold. No one was injured and the bus only received minor smoke damage. A replacement tour bus was sent to Moore and his tour mates.
