A little more than a week ago, Josh Thompson was Wisconsin’s best kept Country Music secret. But with the release of his debut album, Way Out Here, Thompson is now in the spotlight and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon.

Way Out Here debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard’s Top 10 Country Albums chart. After selling 15,000 albums in just seven days, Way Out Here became the highest debut from a new Country act this year. And if that isn’t enough, the album is also the highest debut from a new solo male since Justin Moore in August 2009.
Thompson is known for his honest lyrics, rooted in experiences of hard work and discipline, as well as for his edgy style of music, coined as ‘new outlaw’. This fresh style of Country Music comes in loud and clear with the track "Blame It On Waylon," in which Thompson tributes the late legend Waylon Jennings for sparking his interest in outlaw country.
The first single off of the album, "Beer on the Table," has already found wild success as a bar anthem and an ode to a feel good time after a long, hard 9-5 work week. With his second single, the title track "Way Out Here," Thompson reverts to a more backwoods way of life. The song highlights an easy going way of life, while still sticking to the idea of working hard for everything you get. The new single will be available to Country radio next week, but won’t officially impact until March 29.
In addition to his new album and his anticipated second single, Thompson is currently doing shows as a part of the Jagermeister Country Tour through the end of March. The singer will then begin touring with Brad Paisley on his H20 2010 World Tour starting in May.
