Laura Cash has the all-star family name from her husband John Carter Cash, but she too, like her father-in-law, the great Johnny Cash, has her own musical talents.

According to AOL’s The Boot, Laura Cash’s new album, Awake But Dreaming, showcases her musical talent through the fiddle and her voice. The album has a mixture of traditional Country, swing and bluegrass tunes from some of her favorite musicians: Bob Wills, George Jones, Johnny Paycheck, Marty Robbins, Loretta Lynn, Hank William, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton.

Cash, a native of Corvallis, Ore., first started playing the fiddle in grade school. She really began to hone her fiddle skills at age nine when she received a restored fiddle thanks to her father, who made a deal with a violin maker: a restored fiddle in exchange for Cash’s father building a two-story deck on the man’s house. This was the start of Cash's family’s support of her music dreams.

At 17, Cash won the Junior Division of the National Fiddle Championship in Weiser, Idaho. She has since then gone on to sing harmony and play fiddle, guitar and mandolin with Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis and Ray Price. She has also played with June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash and has been featured with Larry Gatlin on a vocal duet, ‘Voice of the Spirit, Gospel of the South.’
