The husband/wife duo Joey + Rory recently released the second single off The Life Of A Song, called "Play the Song." Radio, however, isn't playing the single, making "Play the Song" a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The track was written by Rory Feek a few years back, when trying to get his songs recorded in Nashville. It discusses the red tape and bureaucracy that goes into getting a song to Country radio.

"I think that the song just basically touches a nerve with radio," Feek told The Tennessean this week. "The song is talking about our viewpoint of the problems within the industry, and they feel like it's calling them out. And, I guess maybe it is. It's calling all of us out, really."

The chorus is a plea to the powers that be: Play the song, play the song turn it up loud enough/we can all sing along/and let the people decide/if the music is right or its wrong/man, it’s a shame/instead of playing the game/play the song, play the song.

"We don't want to offend radio, but if they are offended then maybe they're taking offense because it's true," said vocalist Joey Martin.

"Play the Song" is playing at www.joeyandrory.com and the video is on YouTube. and fans can catch their live appearance at the Bib & Buckle Fest in Columbia, Tenn., this Saturday. For information and ticket sales visit www.joeyandrory.com/MJ-Music.aspx.
