Joe Nichols served as Country Music's representative at the 40th Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards last week in New York. Nichols joined a slew of legendary artists, including Jon Bon Jovi, Rob Thomas, Andy Williams, Crosby, Stills and Nash, James Taylor and Sir Tom Jones. He also sang "If I Loved You" from the musical Carousel to honor Maxyne Lang, president of the Williamson Music publishing company.
"Getting to perform such a classic song from the catalogue of one of the most successful writing partnerships in music history was a true honor for me," Nichols said. "This is the sort of event that had me in aw e-- the room was filled with some of the most talented songwriters and performers in existence. To hear Andy Williams sing 'Moon River' was a moment I will never forget."
Nichols just finished work on his latest CD. The first single from the album, "Believers," is in the Top 30.
