Joe Nichols has teamed with TheHopeLine to create a new Web site that will help people struggling with addiction. The Web site, www.anoldfriendofmine.com, provides a chat room and a variety of ways people can overcome their various addictions.
The name of the site came from Nichols' song, "An Old Friend of Mine," which deals with battling substance abuse. The song is off his next album, Old Things New, due out Oct. 27. HopeLine Director of Rescue Dave Anderson saw the video for the song, which can be seen on anoldfriendofmine.com, and immediately contacted the singer.
Nichols, a recovering alcoholic himself, said, "This site exists out of my desire to offer more than a song when talking about my struggle with addiction and recovery. The purpose of [the Web site] is to be a starting point resource for teens, families, parents, or individuals who are struggling with addiction or know someone who is."
