There is a small group of elite Country Music artists reserved for those with chart-topping prowess. Joe Nichols is now a proud member of that group this week with his latest single, “Gimmie That Girl.”

“Gimmie That Girl” is the first single of 2010 to hold the No. 1 spot on music charts for three consecutive weeks. Since 2008, only six other Country Music artists have held the No. 1 spot for three weeks straight on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart.

“I am so proud for songwriters Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip,” Nichols said, “and so happy they gave that song to me, and for everyone who gave it a shot and every fan who bought it, requested it and told people about it—it’s the biggest hit of my career.”

The team behind this album and single has been together for only a short while, making its success that much sweeter.

"This is a major milestone for Joe and puts him in an exclusive club.  Only a handful of artists can claim to have a song hold onto the No. 1 position for three weeks," said Mark Wright, president of Show Dog-Universal Music.  "Achieving this goal is also a big accomplishment for any label, but especially for a team that has been together less than six months. I am really proud of everyone."

“Gimmie That Girl” is the first single off Nichols’ new CD, Old Things New, available in stores now. Already, the CD has earned its place on several music critics’ “best of” lists.
