Jo Dee Messina performed two free shows last weekend at the Brentwood United Methodist Church in Nashville, where she helped raise more than $30,000 for Harvest Hands in South Nashville.
Messina performed for around 3,000 fans in person, as well as the 1,200 or so who watched the show online via UStream. The show included songs from her Christmas album, A Joyful Noise, including "Silver Bells," "The Christmas Song" and "Let It Snow."
You can watch the performance online through the end of December by visiting www.JoDeeMessina.com/harvesthands. Fans are still welcome to make donations, and t-shirts are available for purchase as well.
Messina said of the experience: “I feel blessed to be able to use my gift of voice so that they can continue not only to change lives by ‘doing,’ but by being an example to the rest of us on how to truly make a difference."
Messina will perform at Green's Grocery in Leiper's Fork, Tenn., this Thursday, Dec. 10. The show will start at 6:30 p.m., and there will also be performances by Ron Block, Allen Shamblin and Julie Lee. Tickets are available now, and the event money will benefit the Montessori School of Franklin.
Currently, Messina is preparing her fifth studio album, Unmistakable, for a spring release; its first single, "That's God," will be out in January.
