Jimmy Wayne Taking a Long Cold Walk
Jimmy Wayne’s Meet Me Halfway Walk Across America, which is to draw attention to the needs of foster children and young adults who may end up homeless, is turning out to be a little tougher than he thought due to cold weather. Jimmy says, “I knew it was going to be cold, but I didn’t think it’d be THIS cold for THIS long,” Wayne laughed. “Thank goodness I have a tent and sleeping bag that are designed for sub zero temperatures. It’s been tough going the past four days. But when I get down, I just think about the kids at Monroe Harding, and all the kids like them around the country who may really be facing a homeless situation once they are too old for foster care and group homes. That keeps me going.” I’m dedicating my morning and evening walks for the next couple weeks to Jimmy’s cause. And I’m making donations on selected lawns in the process.
Those Rascals Are Getting Old
Rascal Flatts is celebrating 10 years together. It all started with their first hit, “Prayin’ For Daylight”. Since then they have charted 11 #1 singles, sold 20 million albums and 25 million downloads, along with scoring numerous awards. Along the way they’ve performed for U.S. troops in Iraq and worked for the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville. Major woofs to you guys Gary, Joe Don, and Jay.
Country Crossings Coming Out Strong
Country Crossings, the new country music venue in Dothan, Alabama, is having it’s grand opening January 15-17. Country music stars who will perform for free include Tracy Lawrence, Joe Nichols, Darryl Worley, Neal McCoy, Lorrie Morgan, George Jones, Bluegrass group The Grascals and more. Ribbon cutting ceremonies are the 17th. Venues opening include George Jones Possum Holler Bed & Breakfast, The Grascals Bluegrass Hollow RV Park, Lorrie Morgan’s Hot Chicken, John Anderson’s Cafeteria and Darryl Worley’s Worley Bird Saloon. Maybe they need Webb’s Dog Park?
Laura Bryna on Your Cell Phone
That’s hot! One of my favorite country music artists, Laura Bryna, is working with GoTV Networks (which provides entertainment and info over your cell phone). She is hosting a show interviewing country music entertainers and counting down the latest hits. I guess it doesn’t have a name cause they didn’t put it in the press release. Look at www.truecountry.tv for more info. Wait, I think that’s Laura calling me now…
Elvis Reincarnated As A Hound Dog?
Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville is celebrating Elvis’ birthday this weekend with special events. Is it true the reincarnated Elvis will be there? I heard he’s a real hound dog now. Woof.
