Jimmy Wayne has walked 1,700 miles through six states as part of his Meet Me Halfway initiative. The singer even broke his foot while on the walk, but that didn't stop him from completing his journey from Nashville to Phoenix, and it isn't slowing him down now.

After a warm homecoming filled with hugs and cheers in the Nashville airport on Tuesday, Aug. 3, Wayne returned to his home. “The first thing I usually do is wash clothes,” Wayne told The Boot. “I walk in my house and turn on my washer because I can’t stand for dirty clothes to sit in a basket. I just hate that.”

Once Wayne gets his clothes taken care of, he plans to reflect on the past seven months by going back to where he was inspired -- his thermostat.

“I would like to have a cup of coffee and I may go back to that thermostat that I stood at the day I decided to walk across America, which brought on this whole idea,” Wayne said. He said he found inspiration one winter morning when he was warm, cozy and stirring a cup of coffee in front of his thermostat, an opportunity many homeless teenagers do not have.

“It made me feel kind of guilty I was able to do that, but on top of that, I hadn’t done anything to give back that year,” Wayne said. “I may go home today and turn [the thermostat] down, and say thanks and stir my coffee.”

Wayne won't be staying home long. He'll be back on tour on Saturday, Aug. 7, when he performs in Greenville, Wisc.
