Jimmy Wayne is nearing the finish of his Meet Me Halfway walk by crossing the Arizona state line on June 30. The Country star has been traveling since Jan. 1 when he left Nashville on foot.

"I have walked from Nashville to Arizona," Wayne said. "I still can't believe it, but knowing that I'm not only talking the talk, but also walking the walk for these teens makes it worth it day after day."

Wayne developed Meet Me Halfway in December 2009 as an effort to help homeless teenagers. Wayne knows the hardships of homelessness as he too was a homeless teen. Wayne attended 12 different schools in two years, until he was taken in by the Costner family. The family provided him with a room as long as he agreed to cut his hair and attend church.

After living with the Costner family for four years, Wayne earned a degree in criminal justice. He then moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music. Throughout his career, Wayne has worked to help children in the foster-care system.

"No one should ever have a reason to say 'I'm bored' when there's so many youth that need our support," Wayne said.

Wayne expects to reach his goal, the Home Base Youth Services in Phoenix, by the end of July. Wayne continues to post updates on his journey on Twitter @jimmywayne.
