Continuing our coverage of Jimmy Wayne's Meet Me Halfway walk across America, the singer passed through Memphis on Tuesday, Jan 19. He told television show The Country Vibe, "If you are going to make a statement, make a grand statement, something that is going to get someone's attention," he said. "I don't regret setting out on this trek in one of the coldest winter's we've had in 14 years. That just put more emphasis on the campaign."

With his walk, which began Jan. 1, Wayne is raising awareness for homeless children and teens who don't meet the requirements for foster care. Wayne is traveling aross the country from Nashville to Phoenix sleeping outside, though many fans have offered to have him stay in their house overnight.

In addition to raising awareness, Wayne is also raising money for the Monroe Harding House in Nashville, which provides services for teens and children, and Home Base Youth Services, a Phoenix organization that help teens who are old enough to move out of the foster care system.
