Jimmy Wayne fans are outraged by the lack of attention being shown to Wayne by radio stations and Country Music television, according to TheBoot.com. As a result, a fan from Florida recently formed a petition in hopes of reviving Wayne's career and exposing his music to Country fans that have rarely heard his music.
The petition reads: "The fans of Country singer Jimmy Wayne have been requesting his music to radio stations all around the country and yet, for some reason, we can't get his songs played. We request and vote for his videos on the We bsites for the two major video channels, and like the radio stations, they are seldom, if ever, played. With this kind [of] fan support, why is it that his music and videos aren't getting played?"
As of late, Wayne recently re-recorded the song "Sara Smile" with the duo who originally recorded it in 1976, Hall & Oats. Wayne was discovered over five years ago by Dreamworks executive Scott Borchetta, who heard Wayne playing his own rendition of "Sara Smile." Strangely, the singer has never recorded it, until now.
"’Sara Smile’ has been my shield and my sword," Wayne said. "Over 13 years ago, I picked a Hall & OatesGreatest Hits CD out of a bargain box that sat outside the department store in the old Gaston Mall in Gastonia, N.C. I listened to the CD on my way home and I heard ‘Sara Smile’ for the first time. I began singing this song long before I knew how to play it on guitar, and I just felt like it was as if the song was written for me.
The last words of the petition read,"We, the fans, are signing this petition with the intent to send it to the programmers of radio stations and the two major video channels to show them our support of Jimmy Wayne and to ask them why his music and videos aren't getting the airplay congruent with the public desire."
