Jamey Johnson was presented with a plaque honoring the gold certification of his 25-song double album, The Guitar Song, by the Universal Music Group Nashville during a Friday gathering at the Palm.

The album, which received two Grammy nods for Country Album of the Year and Best Male Country Vocal performance for his song Macon, is also up for Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

The framed plaque was presented to Johnson by UMG’s chairman, Luke Lewis.

“I can’t be any prouder than to hand my friend Jamey Johnson a gold record,” Lewis said.

Also receiving plaques were producers Arlis Albritton, Dave Cobb, The Kent Hardly Playboys and Johnson's’ manager, Ken Levitan.

Johnson took the time to thank everyone who made the album a possibility.

“It’s always cool to stop what you’re doing and bring the whole team together,” he said. “These guys and gals usually don’t get to see each other on a regular basis, so it’s good that when they do, we’re celebrating an accomplishment like that. It’s something everybody worked equal parts on and holds an equal amount of responsibility for the success of it."

Johnson mentioned he was thankful for the acknowledgements and awards the album received and appreciated the ability to shed some of the spotlight onto those little-known people who also work hard to produce the album.

“We get positive feedback from the audience every night, so that is our thank you. But the people who work behind the scenes that maybe aren’t on the road with us and don’t get that immediate feedback, that immediate thank-you from people, it’s real important for them to get to come out and share a night like this with everyone else," he said.
