Jamey Johnson Video to Premiere on 'Entertainment Tonight'

Jamey Johnson’s new video for “Playing the Part” will premiere Wednesday, Oct. 20, on Entertainment Tonight.
 
The video, directed by actor Matthew McConaughey, was shot in late September in Los Angeles. McConaughey, who has worked in film for many years and is a personal friend of Johnson’s, was excited about his first experience in directing music videos.
 
“Jamey and this song both have a great sense of humor, so I wanted the video to have a 'wink' to it,” said McConaughey. “For any video, if you like the song, you should like it even more after you see the video. I wanted this video to support the lyrics and elevate the song.”
 
“I don’t think I could have dreamed anything better,” said Johnson of partnering with his friend.
 
The pair worked together creatively to come up with the elaborate plot for the video and promise fans a surprise twist at the end.
 
"I had a few initial ideas,” recalled McConaughey. “But after Jamey and I talked about why he wrote it and where the song came from, it was clear that I needed a man in a monkey suit."
