Jamey Johnson, a relatively new recording artist for Mercury Records, is not just topping the charts with his first single ever, but is also nominated for three Grammy Awards.Only released 41 weeks ago, that single, “In Color,” was on Billboard's Top 10 list and is nominated for the Grammys Best Country Song and Best Country Male Vocal Performance. Johnson’s album, That Lonesome Song, is also nominated for Best Country Album for 2009.The song was written by Lee Thomas Miller, a successful songwriter, and James Otto, another Country recording artist. But the inspiration for the song came from a conversation between Johnson and his grandfather.Johnson reflected back on his grandfather and the wonderful man he was, telling the Evansville Courier & Press, “He always believed in me, and I hope he know that I came through.”You can catch Johnson performing on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Feb. 5. He is already said to be working on his next album.
