Sometimes even Country stars like Blake Shelton can hold a grudge, at least against fellow Country artist Jake Owen.

“I do want to talk about Jake because I’m made at him right now,” Shelton told Country Countdown, according to The Boot. “Somebody sent me a song that Jake wrote. And so I said, ‘I gotta have this! I’m gonna record this song for my album.’”

But by the time Shelton made up his mind, the song wasn’t available anymore.

"I was ready to give it to him," Owen conceded, but he didn't have the final say. "The guys at the label loved the song and they wanted to record it, so I ended up having to call Blake back and say, 'Man, I'm sorry, I'm going to record it.'"

Shelton admitted he was disappointed over not being able to record the song for his upcoming album, but he says he got revenge on Owen when the song ended up not making the cut for Owen’s album either.

"Three months ago, Jake Owen was calling me going, 'Hey man, if you still want that song for your album. ...' And I said, 'No sir, I don't need it for my album. I don't want it anymore.' ... So I think I got even with Jake, and that's not easy to do. That's what you get, Jake!" he said with a laugh.

Even if the unidentified song never gets released, Owen still says it was worth it.

"It was pretty flattering when Blake called me and asked me for that song," he said. "When he's making a record, he always calls me and asks me if I've got any songs for him that I've written. It means a lot to me because he's a great songwriter. Just to think that he thinks that much of my songs makes me pretty good as a songwriter."
