Another talent television series will hit the airwaves when Nigel Lythgoe partners with his son, Simon Lythgoe, to launch “CMT’s Next Superstar,” a one-hour series set to launch on CMT in April.

The 10-episode series will scourer America to find the next country superstar, while also opening doors for the undiscovered singer/songwriters.

“Whereas contestants must sing in different genres on other shows, this is all about Country music," said Simon Lythgoe. "Our contestants will turn some world renowned songs from other genres like Pop or Motown, pour their soul into it and make it Country.”

Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer of “American Idol” and co-creator of “So You Think You Can Dance,” mentions the new CMT show is more than a singing competition.

"The contestants will also be judged on their song writing, radio interviews and music videos,” said Nigel Lythgoe. “We're looking for more than just a singer, we want the complete creative, talented package -- performer, personality and writer. We want the next country superstar.”

The contestants will not only compete together but they'll also live together, each week opening the country's eyes to what goes into becoming a successful musician in Nashville.

Contestants will be eliminated each week by a panel of celebrity judges, but viewers will have the final say on who becomes "CMT's Next Superstar."
