In a recent interview with the Washington Post, Trace Adkins revealed that his bumpy and sometimes troubled past — including a drunken tractor accident, a finger versus an oil rig (the rig won) and the unforgettable shot in the chest from his ex-wife — is all behind him now.  But it was kinda fun.

"I've cheated death several times," Adkins said. "There is no greater adrenaline rush than when you think there's a possibility you're about to die."

Adkins, now remarried with five little girls, says life is calmer now, as opposed to the wild and crazy time of youth. "I'm not really the party guy anymore. I play music! That's what I do for fun. I play golf now and then, and stand back and watch the kids grow up."

The self-proclaimed country boy, now touring with his tenth studio album, said of his career, "I knew what the odds were. I am one of those very fortunate people that [had] my hobby turned into a career."

Adkins is performing in Virginia and North Carolina this weekend. For more information and tour dates, visit www.traceadkins.com
