Hank Williams Jr. brought his rowdy friends together to introduce his own brand of Popcorn Sutton’s Tennessee White Whiskey. Kid Rock, Rodney Atkins, Travis Tritt, Martina McBride, Colt Ford, Zac Brown and Eddie Montgomery were among the stars on hand for the event.

The white whiskey will initially be sold in local bars throughout middle Tennessee and is the first “white whiskey” to be approved by the federal government, according to a press release.

According to the release, Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton was an authentic mountain moonshiner from middle Tennessee.

Williams has a business partnerships with Pam Sutton and J & M Concepts and said Popcorn Sutton has a deeper legacy than that of a moonshiner.

“Popcorn was part of the real ‘Thunder Road’ legend, and that is a real part of Country Music history,” he said.

Williams attended Sutton’s memorial service on Oct. 24 of last year and said the late moonshiner was a legend.

“He was the last of the real mountain moonshiners that went back,” he said.
