Hank-Williams-IIIHank Williams III is following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather before him, he’s just taking a slightly different approach than they did. Damn Right Rebel Proud, released Oct. 21, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and No. 18 on the Top 200 Albums chart. With sales of almost 20,000 records, this is Williams’ highest chart debut ever after six albums.  Damn Right Rebel Proud is full of Country Music, mixed with punk according to several critics. Randy Lewis of the Los Angeles Times said Williams created an album “mapping complex emotions with a few economical strokes of the pen.” Christian Hoard, writing for Rolling Stone, said “Hank III keeps things engaging, thanks to a Country-punk sound with a strange bent…” Williams describes his album as a “Jekyll and Hyde mix of disturbingly dark stuff and good ol’ Country.” “Long Hauls & Close Calls,” the album’s first single, is a mixture of Country and metal.  “It’s got a little bit of the scream for the kids in black and a little bit of the banjo and dobro for the Country folks,” said Williams. Following in his family’s footsteps, he’s doing his own thing and doing it well.
